![]() But while the headline-grabbing power and performance figures are impressive, they’re currently just that. Good things take time, and given that the car has been developed from scratch, unlike the original Tesla Roadster that was based on a Lotus chassis, the continued delays in its development are hardly surprising. It’s been a long time coming, but the second generation Tesla Roadster is getting closer to emerging from the company’s American headquarters in California - even if it’s currently held up in a logjam of other production headaches for the Fremont-based manufacturing facility. (Image credit: Tesla) Tesla Roadster: Outlook Plaid three-motor powertrain models have a distinct advantage compared to more standard models in the Tesla range though, because ‘standard’ cars only feature twin electric motors – one at the front and the other at the back. Top speed is expected to be somewhere over 250 miles per hour. Tesla claims the all-wheel drive Roadster will also be able to reach 0-100mph in 4.2 seconds and cover a quarter-mile in just 8.8 seconds. The performance is slightly better than the Model S Plaid, which is hardly surprising given the Roadster’s lower, more dynamic body styling. The powerpack will drive three electric motors – one in the front, two in the rear - which will deliver 10,000 Nm / 7,400 lb ft of torque and enable it to launch from zero to 60mph in 1.9 seconds. However, anyone tapping into the formidable performance potential of the car is unlikely to get anything near that. The next-best alternative would be the tri-motor Tesla Cybertruck, which promises over 500 miles of range, and the Long Range Model S which offers 405 miles. The Tesla Roadster will feature a 200kWh battery pack that, according to the US manufacturer, will have the potential to offer around 620 miles of range. That's an absurd level of range that's absolutely unheard of in electric cars.Įven Tesla's other cars, which have industry-leading levels of range, can't match that. ![]() (Image credit: Tesla) Tesla Roadster: Range potential, battery and performance Tesla also has plans for a Founders Series model, with only 1,000 being produced, which was originally set to come with a price tag of $250,000 that's serious supercar money. The remaining $45,000 has to be paid within 10 days. Reservations require a $50,000 deposit, $5,000 of which is due at the time of reservation. Given the supply chain issues, and Tesla's seemingly never-ending price increases on existing models, don't be surprised if the Roadster ends up costing a lot more than originally planned. Reservations have always been open, which is more than you can say for the Cybertruck, but the final price has been removed from the Tesla website. The continual delays will be a kick in the teeth for people who've put down a deposit of $50,000 to reserve a car that was originally set to cost $200,000 for the base model. ![]() Elon Musk originally tweeted news of this delay in September 2021, and confirmed the situation during Tesla's annual shareholders meeting. However the Tesla CEO later confirmed that the Roadster is scheduled to enter production in 2023 - likely after the launch of the Cybertruck.

Though GARO may have branched off into video games and anime in the past, the question still remains: why is GARO, a franchise that has almost never been seen outside of Japan, being featured in a critically acclaimed, internationally released MMO? The reason is two-fold: because of the upcoming January 23rd release of the GARO spin-off series Zero: Dragon Blood and because Keita Amemiya, the man who created the GARO franchise, is designing the bosses in FFXIV’s upcoming Return to Ivalice raids. Therefore, Square Enix is killing two birds with one stone by providing players with worthwhile PvP rewards, while hopefully attracting enough players to shorten PvP queue wait times. ![]() Players who are interested in obtaining these PvP-only items are more likely to participate in PvP matches. While gamers will be able to collect most of the event items without participating in PvP matches, special dyable versions of armor and outfits are purported to be available only as PvP rewards. Many players believe that the rewards are not worth the effort, and others claim they wait for over an hour for PvP matches that never start. PvP is a point of contention within the FFXIV community. In terms of the event’s role in the MMO, it’s a solid first step towards potentially reinvigorating PvP in Final Fantasy XIV. These will be available as Gold Saucer prizes, PvP rewards, and achievements. Starting January 17th, Final Fantasy XIV players can collect each Knight’s iconic weapon, armor, and mount (i.e., Madou Horse), with the exception of Dan’s horse, as well as outfits and weapons inspired by the Makai Priests. The organization regards Garo as the most powerful Makai Knight alive and usually gives him the most dangerous assignments. Four Makai Knights and two Makai Priests (or at least their armor) will be featured in the collaboration event: the Makai Knights Garo, Zero, Dan, and Kiba, and the Makai Priests Reo Fudo and Rekka. Garo is a member of a secret organization that is responsible for the training and deployment of Makai Knights and their supplemental spellcaster counterparts, the Makai Priests. ![]() They revolve around the titular Garo, a mystical Makai Knight who protects humans from soul-eating demons called Horrors. ![]() Unlike what you might expect however, the series of GARO television shows and movies all have a more mature focus. You’re likely not alone. Despite its relative success, GARO has very little presence outside of Japan.įor those who don’t know, GARO is primarily a “tokusatsu” show, which is any Japanese live-action television program or movie that features people in spandex or rubber monster suits. If you find yourself confused, wondering why Final Fantasy XIV is introducing armor that looks like something out of Power Rangers, and from a franchise you’ve never heard of no less, don’t worry. Not unlike last year’s Yo-kai Watch event, GARO x FFXIV will introduce a whole host of new loot, including various weapons, armors, outfits, and mounts. Though Square Enix has quite a bit planned for Final Fantasy XIV in the coming year, not least of which is the Stormblood expansion releasing this summer, players can look forward to a new collaboration event this month. It can be pumped just like water and stored in tanks just like water, says Cliff Ho, an engineer at Sandia National Laboratories who studies heat transfer and fluid mechanics for technologies such as concentrating solar power, but is not involved in Crescent Dunes. Molten salt’s physical and thermal properties make it a particularly good candidate for energy storage. The rest of the time, the molten salt can be stored in another insulated tank on the ground. When electricity is needed, the hot salt is used to boil water and produce high-temperature, high-pressure steam, which turns turbines that generate electricity. There the molten salt can reach temperatures as high as 565 degrees Celsius. The trick is to have all those mirrors heat up a massive tank fullof sodium and potassium nitrates that are pumped up to the top of the tower.
